Cho’s Roll Past Maryville University

Brad Bowes- UCO Hockey

November 5, 2023

#2 UCO Hockey reigns supreme against the #12 Maryville Saints with a
cumulative weekend score of 9 – 3. The two games had individual scores of 6 – 2 and 3 – 1 on
Friday and Saturday respectively. It shouldn’t be understated how important it was for the
Bronchos to have a bounce back weekend after losing one of their top scorers recently for the
season, and a tough loss last weekend against recently ranked #3 UMary.

Cullen Hogan was able to get himself back in the goal column after racking up two in the first
weekends acclimation test vs. Alabama. He increased his season total by two more on Friday
plus an assist on Saturday. The Bronchos were perfect on the penalty kill this weekend and boast
the league’s strongest penalty kill with a pk percentage of 94%, and while this is a good stat to
have, it is less than good to spend 18 minutes a game down by a man. This was something UCO
took control of on Saturday only going down a man once in the ladder event.

Saturday was a closer game that didn’t see Maryville pull their goalie, and although it looked like
Maryville was in striking distance. Behind good goaltending from the broncos and maximizing
even strength gameplay. The Bronchos were in control for the whole night, outshooting
Maryville 43 – 29. The electric factory that is Jeff Rebmann tallied goal number 5 on the season
for himself, and the game winning goal for the Bronchos on Saturday night. Adam Stalzer and
Zach Guerra chipped in the other two markers for UCO.

This upcoming weekend the Bronchos will welcome familiar foe Missouri State in to the
Broncho Barn for a little rodeo as UCO looks to wrangle the Bears. Last season the Bronchos
were able to sweep the season series and hope to replicate that, beginning with their first two
matchups on Friday and Saturday.
