Bronchos Tame The Buffs

The University of Central Oklahoma Hockey Team continued their road stint this past weekend as they traveled to face WHCL opponent, the University of Colorado. UCO headed into the weekend undefeated for the season, fresh off of a road trip against Maryville University. The Bronchos looked to continue their winning streak against the Buffalos Friday night and did such with a 7-1 victory. Forward Zach Guerra lead the Bronchos in scoring in the contest and recorded a hat trick for his efforts.  Goal Tender Austin Madge made 28 saves in 29 attempts to lead the Bronchos to victory Fridays  evening. Madge, a transfer from Oregon University, started his second game for UCO and ended the evening with an 0.894 save percentage for the year.

The Bronchos carried the momentum from Friday evening into the contest on Saturday night. Zach Guerra and Adam Stalzer each had two goals to lead the Bronchos in scoring. Jeff Rebmann had a great weekend adding to his goal total for the Bronchos to help edge the Cho’s past the Buffs. Cam Pendleton made his second debut in net and held Colorado to only two goals. UCO won the contest 8-2.

UCO looks forward to a long home stay as they look to take on the University of Mary this weekend at the Broncho Barn. The University of Mary is making their ACHA Men’s DI debut this season as they made the jump up from DII last season. The Bronchos will face the Maruders Friday and Saturday night with the puck drop at 7:05pm CST. Tickets are still on sale and can be purchased from the UCO Hockey website.
