UCO Sweeps Alabama

The University of Central Oklahoma traveled to Alabama to play the Frozen Tide this past weekend. UCO was able to complete the sweep over the weekend to extend their winning streak to 4 in a roll.

Friday night the Chos went down early in the contest as Alabama’s Quin Fahey was able to shoot one past Ben Kelsch to take the early lead. But Zach Guerra and defenseman, Davin Burton answered quickly to take over the lead heading into the first intermission. Ondrej Blaha placed another Broncho goal past Alabama’s goalie, Elijah Gibbons, just seconds into the second period before the Tide’s Michael Kramer added another notch for the home team. Forward, Adam Stalzer would cap the scoring for both teams for night in the third period with the final score 4-2 in favor of the Bronchos.

Saturday’s game was an early turn around for the team as they had a 2pm start time. Alabama would once again take the lead in the first leading 0-1 headed into the second period. Austin Simpson put UCO on the board just 3 minutes into the second frame, followed by Sam Sykes and Vitali Mikhailov as the Bronchos would continue to add pressure on Alabama and never look back. Zach Guerra and Ondrej Blaha would both get their second goals over the weekend scoring in the final period along with Carter Eha to make the final score for the evening 6-1 UCO.

The Bronchos don’t have any off as they head back out on the road for their next matchup against WCHL opponent, the Colorado Buffalos at the Boulder Rec Center in Boulder, Colorado on October 28th and 29th.
