LINDENWOOD SET TO DEFEND TITLE
UNION LAKE, MI
- The defending ACHA Men's Division 1 National Champions, Lindenwood
University, received 31 of a possible 33 votes to come in as this years
pick for the top spot in the 2009-2010 ACHA Men's Division 1 Pre-Season
Ranking. The University of Illinois, National Champions in 2007-2008,
received 1 first place vote and came in the #2 spot. Lindenwood and
Illinois have met in the last two ACHA Men's Division 1 National
Championship games, with each team winning once. Over the past seven
seasons, 6 different schools have won the ACHA Men's Division 1
National Championship: Lindenwood, Illinois (2), Oakland, Rhode Island,
Ohio, and Penn State.
Beginning its 19th season of action,
there have been a total of 8 schools that have won the ACHA Men's
Division 1 National Championship:
- Penn State (5 times)
- Ohio (4 times)
- Illinois (2 times)
- North Dakota State (2 times)
- Iowa State
- Lindenwood
- Oakland
- Rhode Island
A total of 55 teams will
compete for this year's title, with two new teams in the mix: Indiana
University (Bloomington, IN) and the Rochester Institute of Technology
(Rochester, NY).
The first ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, October 9.
On October 9-11, twenty Men's
Division 1 teams will take part in the 7th Annual ACHA Men's Division 1
Showcase at the Ice Zone in Boardman, OH. Tickets will be available at

The 2010 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships will be hosted by Robert Morris University Illinois and will take place March 6-10, 2010 at The Edge in Bensenville, IL. Sixteen teams will qualify for the tournament.
